An ancient brick structure was unearthed

An ancient brick structure was unearthed in Dharmapur village of Comilla’s Sadar Dakshin upazila during a land excavation for home construction. Locals believe the structure may date back over a century, possibly to the zamindar or even Mughal era, based on the large bricks uncovered. The Department of Archaeology has initiated preliminary investigations, with experts suggesting the find could be historically significant, potentially linked to the region’s role as a transitional zone between Bengal and Tripura during the 18th century. Scholars and residents are urging the site’s preservation and development as a historical tourist attraction, while officials plan a full-scale excavation following initial assessments.
